Following the risen Jesus personally and as part of his body – the church – is the call on our lives – but it is seldom straightforward. We know there must be more, but get distracted, overwhelmed and on occasions discouraged looking for the reality. Going beyond the superficial noise and easy words to the stuff that really matters requires clearing some space to receive, pray and reflect on what’s happening. Its about “going further” being formed in us.
There are numerous examples in history of such growing times shaping and inspiring a generation of young Christians to live honest, real and courageous lives for Jesus and in doing so influence and change the circumstances around them.
We believe “Going Further” for those in the Presbyterian Tribe will be a time for revitalising the call of Jesus in our lives and in the life of the Church. It is a time where each of us can gather, connect in community and most of all be re-formed in order to go further in the Kingdom of God.
Going Further literally will take you further as we go offshore mainland New Zealand to Great Barrier Island. (90kms from Auckland) Great Barrier is Aotea, the historic “gateway” to Aotearoa. Getting there is part of the journey you are on, a pilgrimage to go further with Jesus.
Going Further is an initiative of the Knox Centre for Ministry and Leadership of the PCANZ in collaboration with Presbyterian Youth Ministries and Student Soul. You can find more information on this website.
