YouthTRAIN Certificate in Youth Ministry

  • A course that is practical, teaching the “how to’s” of week to week youth ministry – preparing Bible studies, running programmes, counselling, speaking to youth – and much more!
  • A course that allows you to keep serving in your church while you study – all papers can be done by distance. On site study is available in Auckland with other centres added soon.
  • A course taught by experience practitioners – between them our lecturers Merrilyn Withers and Murray Brown have 40 years experience in youth ministry.
  • A course that is affordable—costs compare very favourably with other tertiary institutions.
  • A course that is flexible—study at your own pace.
  • A course that gives you a credible qualification in a short space of time– graduate after one year’s full time study or two years part time study with papers NZQA approved through Carey Baptist College.
  • A course that provides an ongoing study track. Once you have graduated with your Certificate in Youth Ministry you can work toward an NZQA Diploma in Mission (one year’s additional full time study) or a Bachelor of Applied Theology (two year’s additional full time study) through Carey.
  • A course with credit for practical ministry – 15 credits are available for practical ministry in a church. If you go further with your studies you can do up to one third of a Bachelor of Applied Theology by serving in your local church.

"I was very apprehensive about returning to study and I thought that Christian study with essays and reading would be hard but I found the youth train material easy to read and very practical. The assignments has been easy, I always have heaps to write because it is based around my youth group. I have already applied a number of the suggestions presented in the workbooks."
Lee-Anne Hill

"The Youth Train course provided me with an opportunity to hone my Youth Ministry skills, grow in my relationship with God, meet up with some wonderful Youth Pastors from around the country and last but not least, I now have a recognised qualification in the specialised area of Youth Ministry"
