Introducing Andrew Bell, the new Global Mission Secretary for the Presbyterian Church - he's the one you talk to when you want to dream about doing God's work overseas.
Connecting!! We do it all the time. On the web, by email, text, phone call - ocassionally a card or letter (do you remember them?) But nothing beats skin time. Mates in a cafe - strong coffee brewing - panini's on the grill. Skin time is connection time.
One of the major tasks of my new role is international skin time. So what is my new role? Global Mission Secretary. Huh? Well I'm like a classy Church Travel Agent. Well not that classy - but I specialise in international skin time. Young people (and older ones if they are keen - even someone who is already 25 could join in). The idea is skin time with Christians in distant lands like Vanuatu or South Africa or Fiji. It really doesn't matter where and whether it is for two weeks or two years. It would be better if you have askill like brain surgery but just being human is qualifications enough. So how about it? Palms, white sands, mountains, rivers, maleria and people - I reckon this could be to the big OE what snowboards did for the mountains of white powder. It carves it up.
Details next time,
