This website has been designed and programmed to be as accessible as possible for everyone and to be compatible with the types of adaptive technology used by people with disabilities, including screen readers.
The site can be used without a mouse. There are shortcut keys that will take you to commonly used pages such as the home page and the search page.
To use these shortcut keys hold down the ALT key (PC) or CONTROL key (Apple Macintosh) and then one of the keys in the table below. In some browsers you may have to press ENTER to confirm your choice. In the Opera 7 browser press SHIFT-ESC, release those keys, and then press your chosen access key.
We have designed the site to work on modern browsers. We deem these browsers to be Internet Explorer 6 and above, the Mozilla browsers, Opera 9 and above, Safari 2 and above, and Netscape 8 and above. At this stage there is no support for older browsers.
This website is designed for a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768. If your current setting is lower than 1024 x 768, the pages will not fit into your browser window without the need to use the scrollbars.
We have produced a custom stylesheet which browsers will refer to when preparing to print your document. We have removed all the text formatting, images and navigation in this stylesheet so when you print you get the content and nothing more. Our research shows us that people find printed navigation and images superfluous. We’ve also boosted the contrast.
